Caramel boutique is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Silent Auction and Art Sale benefiting Loaves and Fishes (http://www.loavesandfishesdc.org/), a local meal program serving low income and homeless individuals in the Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights communities. Proceeds from the silent auction, art, raffle and clothing sales will benefit the Loaves and Fishes program. In 2010, the proceeds raised helped purchase two new ovens for the program’s kitchen.

On Thursday October 27 from 6 to 10 p.m., experience Sauciety’s new menu prepared by Executive Chef Will Moore and taste KAS’ new cognac, Celebrity Jazz and KAS’ new exclusive spirit, King KAS wine. Tickets are available at the door.

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE CHEVY CHASE TEAMS UP WITH SUBURBAN HOSPITAL FOR THE KEY TO THE CURE CHARITY SHOPPING WEEKEND


To help raise both money and awareness for women’s cancers, Saks Fifth Avenue Chevy Chase will partner with Suburban Hospital to support women’s cancer programs and host the 2011 Key To The Cure, a charity shopping weekend taking place Thursday, October 20 through Sunday, October 23.

To launch this year’s event, Saks Fifth Avenue Chevy Chase will host a Key To The Cure kick-off celebration on Thursday, October 20 from 6 to 9pm, featuring hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and, of course, shopping.

Saks will also offer a limited-edition Key To The Cure T-shirt designed by Elie Tahari, available beginning Friday, October 1 and retailing for $35 in Saks stores, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and on saks.com. 100% of the purchase price of each shirt sold will be donated to local charity partners.



Grammy and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson has been named the 2011 Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue’s 2011 KEY TO THE CURE campaign. In support of this program, Ms. Hudson will appear in a national public service announcement (PSA) wearing the Elie Tahari limited-edition T-shirt.



During the Key to the Cure kick-off celebration on Thursday, October 20, many special events will take place. There will be Key Cuisine from 20 of the hottest restaurants in the DC Metro Area, live music, DJ’s, signature cocktails, beauty treatments, floral presentations by local florists and a PopChips Lounge complete with a photobooth where guests can load their pictures directly to Facebook and Twitter.



Marco Bicego, Italian fine jewelry designer, will also be joining us for the kick-off festivities and showcasing his Fall 2011 Collection in our fine jewelry department. The Marco Bicego team will be making a donation directly to Key to the Cure.

DC STYLE EVENT: THE HEIGHT OF LUXURY

18th Annual Taste of Georgetown on October 15th Offers 60+ Delicious Dishes, Playful Pumpkin Food Fight, 25+ Craft Brews, Live Jazz and More

Taste of Georgetown Expands Down to K Street for Large Annual Neighborhood
Tasting Festival

The 18th annual Taste of Georgetown is coming up on Saturday, October 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be even bigger, literally, than in years past. Showcasing the spectacular cuisine of over 30 of Georgetown's finest restaurants, the "must eat" event is expanding down to K Street this year and will also feature an exciting new chef "Pumpkin Food Fight" competition, a huge Washington City Paper Wine, Ale & Spirits Pavilion with 25+ craft beers, creative cocktails and refreshing wines, the jazz talents of world-renowned Blues Alley and more.

Throughout the day, guests will taste delicious dishes, pair tasteful cuisine with wines, sip premium beer, and enjoy live music while uncovering the rare dining treasures the city has to offer. Tickets are $5 for one tasting and $20 for five tastings, with proceeds benefitting the Georgetown Ministry Center's services supporting the homeless. TOG is presented and sponsored by the Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) who has helped raise more than $100,000 for GMC since 2004.

Taste of Georgetown's 1st Annual "Pumpkin Food Fight" is giving chefs a chance to play with their food - pumpkin style. The fun new restaurant competition will feature six of Georgetown's best chefs preparing different dishes featuring the favorite fall ingredient, pumpkin, in a full out food competition. Participating restaurants include Mie N Yu, Filomena Ristorante, Rugby Café, Thunder Burger, Dean & DeLuca and Chadwicks. Guests can quench their thirst at the huge new Washington City Paper Wine, Ale & Spirits Pavilion. Bigger than in years past, the Pavilion will offer everything to keep attendees hydrated: 25+ craft beers, including three brews from recent DC newcomer New Belgium Brewing Company and several festive pumpkin and Oktoberfest-themed beers for the season; 6+ wines from wineries like singer Dave Matthews' brand new Dreaming Tree vineyard, and three craft cocktails using flavorful spirits like Absolut Mango and St. Germain. Lucky Brand will host the ‘Lucky You Runway Contest’ at Westfield Annapolis Mall where both new and existing Lucky Brand customers will be invited to the Lucky Brand store for their chance walk the runway during a live runway show hosted by Tim Gunn. Candidates will work with sales associates on a designated
casting day to find their perfect fit and be photographed for consideration. Men and women of all shapes and sizes will be considered.

take questions from the audience. There is no need to RSVP, seating is open but limited.

DC CHARITY EVENT: FANNIE MAE & BLOOMIE'S TEAM UP TO HELP THE HOMELESS


The Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Program is teaming up with three Bloomingdale’s stores in our area to help raise awareness about homelessness in the Washington metropolitan region. On Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23, shoppers can help impact the lives of thousands of homeless individuals in our community by making a purchase at any of these three Bloomingdale’s locations: Friendship Heights, White Flint, and Tysons Corner. Shoppers simply need to tell the associate at check out that they’d like their purchase to support the Help the Homeless Program.

Since 1988, Fannie Mae’s Help the Homeless Program has raised more than $85 million for nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving homeless people in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Each year, tens of thousands of people get involved in the Help the Homeless Program by walking in the walkathon on the National Mall, walking in community mini-walks, making a donation, being a sponsor, or volunteering their time to support organizations dedicated to serving homeless people.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: THE TOP 10 LOOKS AT DW BY KANYE WEST

Kanye West produced his first clothing line and presented it today at Paris Fashion Week. I was very impressed by what the music icon walked down the runway today in Paris. It had a wonderful edge to it. I was happy to see fur and lots of white. I would wear all of those slit dresses! Bravo.
