On a chilly February evening, the Westin Arlington Hotel was all abuzz as the Pakistani community came out in droves to support Fashion for Pakistan. This fashion benefit, hosted by Nauman and Sofia HD, combined beautiful gowns with conscientious giving. Monies raised from the event went to support the relief efforts for the victims of the floods in Pakistan.
Designer Nomi Ansari presented his runway show. The runway was filled with glitz and glam as these traditional Pakistani outfits, known as Shalwar (the bottom) Kameez (the top) [thanks to Alisha Hyatt for schooling me], took center stage. These drop dead gorgeous outfits are usually worn to formal events and weddings. The magnificence of the fabrics and the colors, along with the incredible embellishments made this a night to remember.
There was also a silent auction as well as several vendors who definitely had the bling on display. There was also presentations during the night to call attention to the plight of the flood victims, as well as a brief presentation by the GWFCC on their mission.
The most amazing part of it all is that the production of fab fashion show and related events was executed to perfection by Chauncea Carothers and her talented classmates from the Fashion School at Marymount University. Remember Chauncea's name. You will be hearing her name again and again.
